Fresh milled flour Heart shaped Brownies

Ever since Valentine’s Day my girls have really been into hearts. So, last night I decided to make some heart shaped brownies for them. They were really excited when they woke up this morning and saw the brownies. Unfortunately for them, they will have to wait until after school to try one.

To make these brownies I used this recipe and made a few changes to make it a little healthier. I used coconut sugar in place of the granulated sugar and I used 1 1/4 cup of fresh milled flour, soft white wheat, in place of the all-purpose flour. After I baked them, I let them cool and then used two different sized heart shaped cookie cutters to cut them out. I put all of the left over brownie pieces into an air tight container to store. These are great to nibble on throughout the day. This recipe made 10 medium size and small heart shaped brownies.

I thought these turned out cute and they taste delicious. However, I wish I would have made the brownies thinner by baking them on a baking sheet instead of the 9 x 13 pan. They were really hard to cut out with the cookie cutters because they were so thick. I also felt like I didn’t get very many heart shaped brownies out of it. I would have been able to cut more out if I would have used a baking sheet.

My family loves this brownie recipe. Whether you want to go the extra mile and make them into hearts or just leave them as regular brownies, I encourage you to try this recipe out!
